Friday, September 24 marks the Joffrey Ballet’s fifth annual “Couture and Cocktails” event, celebrating the beginning of their 2010-2011 season, held this year at the W City Center beginning at 7pm. Featuring a full-on runway show from Carmen Marc Valvo Couture, as well as a silent auction and the opportunity to dance the night away with Joffrey ballet dancers, the fete promises to do double-duty: supporting the artistry of national dance institution with a night that won’t be forgotten. Sponsored by Neiman Marcus and the W City Center, “Couture and Cocktails” highlights one of the country’s most spectacular ballet companies with the fashions of an internationally acclaimed fashion designer – a premiere event for any fashion and dance lover, and one that I can’t wait to attend. What’s better than cocktails and fashion set against the backdrop of one of Chicago’s most gorgeous hotels? Count me in.
