Monkey King

Julianne Teres takes us on a swirling trip through Chicago.

Transcript: The monkey king emerges from the smoke with imagery of a Beijing opera dancer and a Buddha. The bean is shown with the cityscape of Chicago in the background. The Chicago sign decorates the page where I ask the monkey king “Sun Wukong, how can I survive my art school.” He responds “how would I know” in Chinese as he waves a Chicago flag. My SAIC ID card is shown. In my picture I have tears in my eyes and a bloody nose and I’m smiling. The final panel displays me and my roommates in Chinatown with a Chinese dragon.
