The 18th st. scene multicultural community flourishes in Pilsen

In the early 1950s, Pilsen saw an influx of Mexican inhabitants, who still make up the majority of the population today. It’s a lively and diverse area, filled with a wide variety of specialty stores, interesting architecture, gardens, and one of the largest art districts in Chicago.

Joep van Lieshout: NEW WAYS OF EXPLOITING PEOPLE

Joep van Lieshout and his work have both been frequently described as “challenging and humorous.” Speaking before an assembly at SAIC in mid-September, he did in fact challenge some and humor others.
