We see a person looking down at a speech bubble with a knife aimed at their palm.
JAY (NARRATING): In January, I thought a lot about self harm.
Jay’s two roommates are hiding knives on top of a fridge in a bird’s eye view.
Jay(NARRATING: To help with that, my roommates hit the knives. They picked on top of the fridge because:
- Too much effort to reach
- Have to use a stool
- Most importantly, I am SHORT (5 feet/152 cm.)
We see an Image of Jay with a neon neon sign pointing out them saying “SHORT.”
JAY (NARRATING): We were joking around a few days later,
Jay is talking with their friends from the couch.
Speech bubbles from them read:
JAY: “Feelin ok; height”
Jay (NARRATING) when one of my roommates suddenly said:
ROOMMATE (LEFT): “Maybe Jay should be more mentally stable to hear this joke.”
ROOMMATE (RIGHT): “Ok whisper it to me though.”
We see Jay’s two roommates whispering to eachother while gesturing to the fridge behind them, snickering.
ROOMMATE (LEFT): “*whisper whisper* too short *whisper whisper*”
Jay sits on the couch, looking confused.
JAY (NARRATING): Of course, I didn’t get it. This is how I processed it.
We see an illustration of a brain and a lightbulb to depict their thinking.
Mental illness + height, getting taller ‘cuz ur mentally ill -> HANGING FROM A NOOSE!
JAY (NARRATING): So, with absolute confidence, I shouted:
JAY: (Urethra!) “Oh! It’s a HANGING JOKE!! Right?”
We see Jay looking happy and pointing up with their finger. An illustration of a cracked light bulb beside them. The panel beside depicts their roommates looking horrified.
An Image of Jay with the expression of mid-embarrassment. Their roomates beside them still look horrified.
…
JAY: Wait.
JAY: A. Was… was that not…
An image of Jay fading away into the background.
JAY (Narrating): It was not, in fact, a hanging joke. (But it was funny.)
