At the recently organized Spring Undergraduate Exhibition 2023, 200 graduating students from the School of Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) showcased their multidisciplinary work to the public.

Held in SAIC Galleries at 33 E. Washington St., the show was open for public viewing from April 7 to April 15. After losing yourself within the many rooms of the exhibition, one can find that this show was about the multifaceted experience of the human condition. Artists explored topics of identity, materiality, surrealism, and body through perceptive and at times humorous means.

Here are pictures of some artworks of the exhibition taken by F Newsmagazine’s multimedia editor, Amanda Reid.

Using found objects, clay, and acrylic paint, artist Verona Davis incorporated ideas of femininity and humor into her work, “Goobie Machine.”

F Newsmagazine’s Comics Editor Teddie Bernard was one of the artists of the exhibition. Their artwork, “Who killed Teddie Bernard,” allowed viewers to read their comics as a way of gathering evidence to find out who killed the cartoonist.

Liam Coerr’s video performance and installation explored the themes of nontraditional gender presentation and body modification.

Through “Bread World,” artist Lorraine (Aiying) Sun depicted the magic creatures living in the sweet little world of bread that they fail to finish every time.
