Besides Halloween, and maybe Christmas, Oscars season is one of my favorite times of the year. With every excuse in the world to curl up with wine, popcorn and movies, I take great joy in tearing my way through all the nominated films, while (in)formally articulating to everyone around me what I believe to be my expert opinion on who deserves the award in each category.

Because I am an editor, and it is part of my job to make editorial decisions, I thought that I might extend those responsibilities to the old F blog, by kindly sharing with you, dear readers, my picks for who should win this year. Mind you, this is not who I think the Academy will pick (so I don’t need any of you comparing my responses to who’s actually awarded, and then leaving nasty messages in the comments). Merely, this is an entirely self-indulgent exercise in projecting my personal taste to the masses.
