The 5th Annual Umbrella Music Festival starts tomorrow, November 3rd, with two free nights of music at the Cultural Center.
Umbrella Music is a collective of Chicago-based musicians, and for the past five years they’ve endeavored to bring together the world’s best in experimental and improvisational jazz right here in Chicago. What do I know about experimental jazz? Absolutely nothing. I can’t recommend a single act in the lineup. But what I DO know is that the first two nights at the Cultural Center (Wed. Nov. 3 – Th. Nov. 4) are FREE, and then it’s a $15 cover to get into each venue Friday through Sunday. And the music is supposed to be awesome.
Check here for the full line up of acts + venues (try not to be put off by the group’s incredibly boring website): http://umbrellamusic.org/
