The CTA is not made for everyone

Transcript:

Panel One: Pictured is a Blue line train at the Washington stop. The top of the panel reads “Last month, I took the Blue Line from O’Hare and got off at my stop.” There are two speech bubbles protruding from the train, showing the conversation between two passengers. The bubbles read, “It’s stinky in here,” and “Look at the person peeing on the doors!”

Panel Two: This panel has no panel borders and shows the ‘pee puddle’ that has formed on the floor in the train. It reads “Fast forward to 15 minutes later, the wet footsteps were everywhere.” The panel depicts a puddle shown in black that has footsteps coming out of it. These footsteps travel all around the comic, as if tracing the walking path of the people who got out of the train.

Panel Three: Panel three depicts a person facing the screen on a flight. A window showing clouds is depicted on the right. They are holding the screen remote control in their right hand, with both hands reaching to the front. The screen reads “Moana.” The text reads “I had a 13-hour flight, and I was already physically exhausted.”

Panel Four: This panel depicts two different sized suitcases moving. The panel reads “I had a 30-kg luggage and a carry on.” While moving the suitcases, two passengers are sharing a conversation, “My parents filled my luggage with cheese and jam, what do you have inside yours?” “I have cheese and poppy seed pastries, mom made them.” “I wish!”

Panel Five: The top of the panel reads “When I got off, I asked help from the CTA worker as my luggage was too heavy for me to carry. The CTA worker says: “We’re not allowed to touch luggage, ma’am,” and the person speaking has an inner thought,”Ugh! Then make the station accessible! I shouldn’t have to get off at a different stop just to have access to working elevators,” reflecting their frustration.

Panel Six: The panel shows the stairs that this person had to walk up with their heavy luggage. Thought bubbles say “Why are there no elevators or escalators and why is no one helping me carry these?” and “What If I fall and hurt my neck again? Due to a medical condition, I shouldn’t be carrying heavy items, but who cares about health anyway, right?”

Panel Seven: Panels seven and eight are combined together in the form of rooms in a house under a roof and a chimney. Panel seven shows the character sleeping on their bed, and it reads “After 25 minutes of trying to slowly walk up the stairs, I finally came home and had my 13 hours of sleep. I slept like a baby.”

Panel Eight: The panel pictures the character doing three different neck stretches with their purple elastic band after hurting themselves by carrying their luggages. It reads “But the worst part was that I had to stretch my neck for a full week because I hurt myself badly,” and “drawing the comic gave me a severe neck pain.” There is a sign to the right of the house that reads “Home.”
