EXPO Chicago is one of the art world’s biggest international fairs, where viewers get to see the state of contemporary art as it stands. Taking place over three days, from April 13th to April 16th, the fair showcased galleries from Chicago, New York, Miami, Rome, London, and more. There were 170 galleries represented by 36 countries and 90 cities across the world.
On Friday, the opening day, F News magazine came to Navy Pier to see experience the art world in action. Many have come to show unique and diverse artworks ranging from automated flower robots that bloom to sculptures that play with the refraction of light. We met and interviewed those behind the booths to get their insight into their work and wisdom about where contemporary art is going.
Featured speakers include:
– Amanda Mendelsohn and Korina Hernandez, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago,
– Nathan Catlin, LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies at Columbia University,
– Laleh Motlagh, Chicago Artists Coalition,
– Chris Pappan, Center for Native Futures,
– Timothy Yarger, Timothy Yarger Fine Art.
