Manga on the funny page

In other comics news, some North American newspapers will begin carrying manga-style comic strips in the Sunday funnies in hopes of attracting a younger audience. Beginning in January, some large-circulation newspapers such as the LA Times, the Denver Post, the Vancouver Sun, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and the Detroit Times, will run two American-written manga strips, “Van Von Hunter” and “Peach Fuzz.”

“We want to bring more features that appeal to a younger readership, and many of the comics we carry have an older following,” wrote Kirk LaPointe, managing editor of The Vancouver Sun, in an email published by the Associated Press.
