Narration: Currently, it is an extremely dangerous time for transgender people in the United States.
Panel 2

Narration: While it was a precarious situation before the 2024 election, right wing politicians and ideologies have been gunning for the stripping of the few rights that trans people have been fighting for over many decades.

Narration: The current narrative is that trans people are somehow behind the majority of mass shooting due to being ‘mentally ill’ and violent.’

Panel 5
Narration: Researchers, such as the VIolence Prevention Project, have found that trans people account for less than 1% of mass shootings.
There is an infographic of a gun. A small sliver of the gun is colored gray, representing the less than 1 percent of trans people that commit mass shootings. There is a slightly larger sliver of the gun colored pink representing the 2 percent of shooters that are female. The rest of the gun is painted blue, representing how 98 percent of shooters are cis men.
Narration: You are most likely to see a cisgender white man committing a crime like this.

Narration: When Politifact researchers asked Fox News for data on trans people and mass shootings, the broadcaster tweeted a list of ONLY 9 incidents. This list is dubious for a number of reasons

Only 4 of these incidents were the shooter identified as trans. The other incidents had no proof the shooter was anything other than cis. And TWO of these don’t even qualify as mass shootings!

Narration: I won’t deny that there are bad trans people, but believing a small part of the population lead in the majority of this nation’s problems goes beyond tin foil hat conspiracies.

Narration: This line of thinking is reminiscent of other harmful ideologies that have only led to pain and suffering.

Narration: We must band together and protect vulnerable groups from being blamed for all our country’s problems and put heat on our politicians to quit the lies and face the truth.
