Carved woodblock comic. Begins with a large calligraphic, manuscript-style letter “C” with filigree. Reads “Cast Aloft”.
A Borderless panel sits beneath the words. It shows an upturned tree stump with a group of birds circling it.
Panel 1: A crow sits on a gnarled woody perch, looking down and to the left, a snow covered pine sits in the lower right corner.
Panel 3: A deer with large antlers, turns its head to the left, looking straight at the camera
Panel 4: A tall snow covered pine tree, with a flock of black crows circling overhead.
Panel 5: A similar deer to panel 3, this time turning to the right to look at the camera. A crow has been impaled on its antlers. Its wings drape over much of the deer’s face, and its bony feet hang limp at its side.
Panel 6: A skull and humerus sit against curved lines, evocative of the rings of a large tree. The skull is crawling with bugs.
Panel 7: a group of three people, bundled in thick winter clothes, pull a long empty sled through a snowy forest of black trees.
