Hong Kong Film Festival

This Film Center's annual Hong Kong Film Festival has previously showcased such talents as Jackie Chan, John Woo, Michelle Yeoh, and Chow Yun-fat--cult figures who have become international superstars. Now in the 18th season, this month-long festival will present the lastest talent from the territory.

The Yellow Negro--A Conversation WIth Artist Iona Rozeal Brown
SAIC BALLROOM, 112 S. Michigan Ave., 4:30pm
In her widley exhibited workes, Painter Iona Rozeal Brown
addresses the global influence of African American culture as fetish. She will discuss the assimilation of hip hop into Japanese youth culture, a topic that has engaged her since her discover of the Tokyo cult ganguro.

Street, and Going to the Sun. The poker columnist for the New York Times, his work also appears in such magazines as the New Yorker, Harper's, and the Atlantic Monthly.

Faculty Sabbatical Exhibition

This exhibition and lecture series features the work of SAIC faculty returning from sabbatical leave. Included in the exhibition are work by Pete Gena, Mattew Goulish, Ted Halkin, Susan Kraut, Vince Michael, Clair Penecost, Felicity Rich, Katherine L. Ross, and Karen Savage.
