after Jessica Wigent
by Ira Murfin

Confidence returns,
aspirates infinity
after him
unsure home.
Say owed.
Begin
subsist
leave
everything un-gained.

Years pleated
worn cold-blooded dirty smell.
Another licked
afternoon remembers.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Still dense winter
socks turn against sugared fingers.
Language colors footsteps toward distance
blankness starting between.

First tight years limped,
came blue materials
embarrassed surprise.
Not foreign food,
sky.

Loose thought ends.
Write long letters.
Owe everyone.

Dull imagination subsided
angles stayed
forgot father’s wants.

Met
first fingered
glared
even then
gone.

Gently 13
she disappeared.
I index her going.

Suburbia knew January.
School starts
outside
dim hungry light.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Forgotten
she trips,
ice misses
disposing clouds indoors.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Late
before summer
she brought a dandelion.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Stop.
Backtrack
where past strangers left
sidewalks crack.
Start out.
