It’s very hard to look at, and humans everywhere are amazed at the death toll rising out of the inadequacy of responses to the rising number of Syrian refugees seeking a safe haven. This article does a good job of introducing who this boy was and not just what he represents. Many questions are raised here as to what exactly our role in this situation should be and how major world powers have been ignoring a growing crisis.

If World Powers Are Not Ignoring the Current Crisis, They Are Blatantly Unwilling to Accept Many Refugees

Iceland recently announced that they would like to pitch in and allow 50 Syrian refugees to enter the country. According to NPR, there are around 3 million Syrian refugees accounted for as of Sept. 3. The citizens of Iceland are outraged and thousands of Icelanders countered by offering their homes and expertise in assisting refugees seeking a home. Germany, on the other hand, has been the biggest world power so far to step up and grant any Syrian refugees who arrive in their country the right to stay. German citizens are also stepping up to welcome the newcomers to their country.
