Alexandra Westrich is a proud F News veteran whose contributions to the paper between 2007 and 2009 included articles, illustrations, and political cartoons.
In 2009, Westrich’s editorial cartoons received the 1st Place award from the Associated College Press and 2nd Place from the Illinois College Press Association. In the same year, her illustrations won 2nd and 3rd Place awards from the School Society for News Design.
A true Renaissance Woman, Westrich currently works as a research assistant in the Field Museum’s Division of Insects, and is a Laboratory Technician in the West Nile Virus Program of the Chicago Department of Public Health. Westrich’s uncanny attention to detail in her cartoons also fuels the scientific illustrations she produces for various publications and educational resources.
